喉の旅

Lately I've been spending most of my time listening to many types of private-journal podcasts. They are posted by famous and common people mostly from America. Actually, every single day I try to check out approximately 20 podcasts. They have very lively and interesting conversations that make me internalize English vocabulary with stronger impressions.

I think the coolest one is girl on guy posted by Aisha Tyler who is an actress, stand-up comedian, and writer. She really is cool. She always makes the audience laugh. Her weekly podcast is a very funny and exciting talk show. She's been inviting those who have accomplished something in their careers. For example, their fields are music, food, art, comedy, movies, etc. I've been enjoying it very much.

You can enjoy great conversations between Aisha and her guests. I'm sure you would be fascinated at not only Aisha's attractive personality but also the way she tries to bring out the best in them.

Both of two great manga series named Death Note and Bakuman drawn by the same authors, a writer and an artist, really have amazingly awesome plots and illustrations.

I'm currently reading the series of Death Note with English subtitles. Meanwhile, my 14-year-old son also is reading the series of Bakuman with English subtitles. And we both are looking forward to exchanging our books with each other. 

When reading it, I sometimes forget that I am reading English subtitles because the story is so thrilled. Actually, I often think I don't want to stop reading even if I have to do something else more important than it.

It's not that I like reading manga books, it's a good practice for me to read those kinds of books. It probably makes you internalize English well because you necessarily read them along with not only an exciting story but also a strong visual image. That's why I recommend you guys reading those kinds of books.

 

最近は音声UPの頻度が減ってるが・・・

スランプでもないのだが、思うような発声にならない、意識すればするほどイマイチ化する袋小路にちと入り込んでいるｗ

 

打破するためにこそ音声をUPすればいいとも思うが、かなりの濃さでUPし続けたので少しペースをゆったりとさせるのも悪くないと思っている今日この頃だ。

練習と勉強は相変わらずの変態レベルで続いているｗ

イディオムも含めて語彙が増えつつあるので、アメリカ映画も今まで以上に楽しめるようになってきた。

先日UPした"Batou"はBrianに「ボキャとグラマーは良くなってるがちょっと眠たそうに聴こえたぜ」ｗと言われた。「発音はL以外は大体OKだ。Lも良い時とアカン時がある。オマエの最大の弱点はそこだ。が、だんだん良くなってると思うぜ」とヤツにしては褒めてる感があるのだがｗ

その後も録るだけ録ったりしたが（基本は録ったらUPしてきたのだが）、ここしばらくは聞き直すと「あかんなぁ、まんだまだ」と、珍しくいくつか没にしてる。

 

先週も一度英会話カフェに行ったが、ホストもGhost in the shellファンだったのと、後から来たお客さんが、たまたまおれと同じ大学出身だったので大いに盛り上がった。

 

少しギアを低速に落としつつも、喉の旅は続く・・・・・

And this evening I recorded a new one speaking about Batou, one of the important characters in 'Ghost in the Shell'.

A couple of days ago I went to an English chat cafe that I sometimes use to practice talking to native English speakers in person.

Then there were three guys in the room, a host who is from Australia, a Japanese guy, and me. The other Japanese guy seemed a nice guy. But his way of speaking English was pretty choppy so the host sometimes couldn't understand his speaking. It was strange because not only has he been learning English for more than 30 years but also he uses English in his work. On the other hand, the host understood my English(in my 13th month of studying) perfectly.

When we went on the topic about the host's opinion that his English is based on British English, the other Japanese guy highly insisted that Aussie English is totally different from British English. Then I wondered whether or not he could explain the difference between the two speaking styles. But his insistence wasn't on pronunciation nor on their accent. It was just on the fact that there are many differences between them in the way that things are described.

He was right. However, there are a bunch of differences also within Japan, one small country. I think it's not that important of an issue regarding learning English. We need to improve the ability to express ourselves and describe things using simple words. We shouldn't persist in literal stuff too much. Communication itself is far crucial than that subtle stuff. That's why I've been trying to talk to foreigners through Skype describing everything I think.

 

I finally recorded my singing of 'If I Fell'. Although it's a terrible one, I uploaded it. Lol
